 Embassy of India to organize ‘Days of India in Almaty’Celebrations 
from 27 to 31 January 2019

On the occasion of 70th Republic Day of India and 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, the Embassy of India in Kazakhstan would be organizing ‘Days of India in Almaty’ from 27 to 31 January 2019. During this period a number of activities will be organised, including:
a. Indian Film Festival;
b. Photo Exhibition ‘Mahatma Gandhi@150: Life and legacy’;
c. Exhibition of Books on Mahatma Gandhi; and
d. Master Class on Indian Dance
- (a to d) in collaboration with and at the National Library of Republic of Kazakhstan
e. Literary and Cultural Festival,
         -in collaboration with and at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; and
f. Tastes of India: Indian Food Festival,
         -in collaboration with and at the Ritz Carlton, Almaty.
For the Indian Food Festival the Embassy of India in Kazakhstan has arranged Master Chefs from India. A daily performance of Indian dance and music would also be held at the hotel venue. The venue will also host an exhibition of select paintings entitled, ‘Roop: Faces of India’ by the renowned artist of Almaty, Ms. BotagozNurpeisova.

30th January is day is observed as Martyr’s Day in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi.

  • Floral tributes to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi and speeches by the Ambassador and the Rector of the University;
  • Speeches (in English language) by the students on a selected quotation of Mahatma Gandhi.

31 January 2019 (Thursday)

  • 14.10-16.45 – Screeningof:Bang Bang (dubbed in Russian)

  • Indian Literary and Cultural Festival – Indian Dress Competition and enactment of ‘RakshaBandhan’ festivities. The event will close with a group dance by the participants.
