Embassy of India in Astana celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Astana at 1000 hrs today.  Ambassador H.E. Dr. TV  Nagendra Prasad unfurled the National Flag followed by recital of National Anthem. Ambassador also read out Hon’ble President’s Address to the Nation.  More than 70 members of Indian community and Kazakh friends of India attended the event, braving the freezing temperatures of Astana.  Ambassador in his address conveyed his greetings on the occasion and expressed confidence on further strengthening of  India-Kazakhstan relations. He encouraged everyone present to contribute their bit  expanding the cooperation between the two countries.


A similar event was held this morning at the Representative Office of the Embassy of India in Almaty where Second Secretary Mr. Swapnil Kathwade unfurled the National Flag. Around 70 members of Indian community and Kazakh friends attended the event. 


The Embassy of India hosted a reception on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day of India at Hotel St. Regis in Astana in the evening, which was attended by about 300 guests, including local dignitaries, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations resident in Astana, senior government officials, media representatives and officials from academic and cultural institutions and members of Indian community. 


Ambassador of India, H.E. Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad in his welcome remarks extended warm greetings and explained the significance of the Day and the Constitution which laid the strong foundation for a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic and served as the bedrock for emergence of India as the largest and most vibrant democracy.  He also dwelt on the India’s ancient civilization, rich cultural heritage, diversity,  growing economy and very premise of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – World is one family. 

Ambassador mentioned about India’s special role on the world stage as India emerged the 5th largest and fastest growing economy and its role as Voice of Global South. He also spoke about G20 Summit during India's Presidency. Ambassador also lauded India-Kazakhstan relations and multi-faceted cooperation, including exchange of high-level visits, Kazakhstan being India’s largest trading partner in Central Asia, India-Kazakhstan Cooperation in defence, flourishing  tourism with increased air  connectivity  and its initiatives in capacity building through ITEC program. He also mentioned  about  strengthening of cultural bonds through various courses and programmes in the field of Yoga, Music, Dance and Hindi Language by conducted by its Cultural Centre (SVCC) in Astana. Ambassador also thanked the Chief Guest  Hon.Minister  H.E. Mr. Bagdat Mussin. 


The Chief Guest, H.E. Mr. Bagdat Mussin, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry conveyed the warmest congratulations on behalf of the Government of Kazakhstan and lauded the age-old bilateral relations between India and Kazakhstan and underscored the cultural and ethnic commonalities. He said that this year both countries marked the 15th anniversary of Strategic partnership and lauded the constructive cooperation between two countries at international fora – UN, SCO, CICA and others and India-Kazakhstan cooperation in space, IT and innovation.  The Minister highlighted India’s recent Moon Mission – Chandrayaan-3 and India’s significant role as SCO Chair and promotion of ICT during its Chairmanship. He thanked Ambassador Prasad and his team for their excellent work in strengthening cooperation and friendship between the two countries. 


A Cultural Show was also presented by the artists of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center of the Embassy which enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing and captivating performances.  The guests were served delicious Indian food.
