Celebrating 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Kazakhstan

CELEBRATING 150th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI

State School No. 92 named after Mahatma Gandhi, Almaty (Kazakhstan) inaugurated 'Mahatma Gandhi Gallery' in its premises on 30.10.2019. The Gallery was set up with the support of Embassy of India in Kazakhstan and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.

The Gallery had a picture wall depicting archival photographs connected with the life of Mahatma Gandhi, and a Book Corner, consisting of literature on Gandhiji.One section of the Gallery showcased the sketches, paintings and drawings made by students of the Mahatma Gandhi School, on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Gandhi ji, on 2 Oct 2019.


“Mahatma Gandhi: A Musical Tribute” was presented by “Centre for Indian Classical Dances”, Almaty, and School № 92 named after Mahatma Gandhi, supported by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India in Kazakhstan and Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in Almaty on 30.10.2019 and in Nur-Sultan on 01.11.2019.The Programme had combined scenes from the life of Mahatma Gandhi, patriotic songs, folk dances from Gujarat and other states and classical Indian dances, viz. Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Drama sequences covered such topics as: Gandhi in school, Gandhi in prison, Gandhi in train in South Africa, Salt march, Hunger strike etc.
