All Indian citizens holding ordinary passport are required to obtain visa for visiting Kazakhstan. Visas are issued by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in New Delhi after obtaining prior approval from the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, either in Nur-Sultan or Almaty. Indian citizens applying for visas to visit Kazakhstan for any purpose need to submit a letter of invitation (LOI) from Kazakhstan, along with their visa application. Prior approval of visas is required to be arranged by the person/company/institution in Kazakhstan who are inviting the Indian citizen and the clearance reference quoted in the LOI. The sponsoring (inviting) party in Kazakhstan is required to apply for visa in the name of Indian visitor(s) to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry (Consular Dept) and on the basis of visa clearance number issued by Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nur-Sultan or Almaty, Kazakh Embassy in New Delhi grants visas to the Indian citizens. Generally it takes about two weeks to get a Kazakh visa.

For Tourist purpose:
A letter of invitation may be provided by some travel companies in Kazakhstan through travel firms in India. The concerned tourist agency in Kazakhstan will apply for visa clearance in Kazakhstan and once it is received, the LOI quoting the visa approval number is sent to the Indian applicant. The travel agency may charge the applicant for their visa clearance service, which will be over and above what is paid as visa fees to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in New Delhi.

For Business purpose:
A letter of invitation has to be obtained from the potential business partner or exporter/importer/trader/organizer in Kazakhstan by the applicant. The Kazakh partner will apply to the Consular Department in Nur-Sultan/Almaty for the visa approval number. Once approval number is issued, the same is to be quoted in the application. Sponsoring organization may charge the applicant for its service, which will be over and above what is to be paid as visa fees to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in New Delhi.

For companies participating in Exhibitions :
A letter of invitation will be sent to the participating Indian company by the organizer of the exhibition. The invitation letter has to be sent to the travel company or event manager appointed by the organisers for that particular exhibition, who will then apply for visa clearance in Kazakhstan.
