The Mahatma Gandhi School in Almaty organized a Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Chess Tournament with the support of Almaty City Chess Federation from October 2-5, 2015. Students from schools in all districts of Almaty participated in the tournament. The closing ceremony was held on 5^th October in the school premises. Mr. Zhienbayev Erulan Asentaiuly, Director, Mahatma Gandhi School welcomed the guests. Ambassador Shri Harsh Jain spoke on the ideals and values of Mahatma Gandhi of specific relevance to children and congratulated the winners of the tournament. He presented awards to the winners under various categories of the tournament. Among the dignitaries who attended the event were Mr. Zhambylov Baimurat Muratkhanuly, Second Secretary of Bostandyk Region ‘Nur Otan’ Party, Mr. Birtaliyev Sayan Kadyrovich, Head of Sports and Tourism Department of Almaty City Education Management and Mr. Kim Sergey Evgenyievich, Executive Director, Almaty City Chess Federation.
