Kazakh Invest Event
9 September 2025, Astana
Ambassador’s Remarks
Distinguished Ministers, Excellencies, Esteemed Representatives of Kazakh Invest, Captains of Industry, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Alsalam Malek Kum, Salemitsiz be, Vanakum, Good morning to one and all.
It is a great honor to be here today at this important platform that brings together visionaries, entrepreneurs, and investors committed for shaping the future of Kazakhstan’s economic development and cooperation with partner countries. I thank Kazakh Invest for this opportunity to address such a distinguished and important gethering.
India and Kazakhstan are connected by bonds of history, culture, and mutual respect for centuries. The Silk Route carried not only trade but also ideas, philosophies, and shared aspirations between our peoples. Today, these civilizational ties find new expression in the expanding strategic and economic partnership between our two countries.
Kazakhstan stands as a dynamic economy in the heart of Eurasia, with abundant natural resources, strategic connectivity, and an ambitious reform agenda "Kazakhstan 2050" under the visionary leadership of HE Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. India, as one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world, sees Kazakhstan as a vital partner in energy security, connectivity, and sustainable development.
Over the past three decades of our diplomatic relations, we have built a strong foundation of cooperation based on mutual respect. Our bilateral trade is growing steadily, even though it is way below our potential with immense untapped opportunities. Indian companies are active in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, IT services, and engineering. At the same time, Kazakhstan’s role as a reliable energy partner, particularly in uranium supply, has been crucial for India’s clean energy transition.
Looking forward, there are several promising avenues where our collaboration can deepen:
- Energy and Renewables: Expanding cooperation in oil, gas, uranium, and renewable energy projects, aligned with global climate commitments. India's renewable energy target for 2030 is to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel electricity capacity, which includes solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear power. India has already achieved 50% of it is current consumption from renewable energy.
- Connectivity and Transport: Leveraging initiatives such as the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the Trans-Caspian routes to enhance trade flows. India and all stakeholders are working together to resolve this issue which is the biggest stumbling block for enhancing bilateral trade between India and Kazakhstan.
- Digital and Innovation: Building joint ventures in IT services, fintech, e-commerce, and start-up ecosystems. This is a new promising area where there is no limit for cooperation.
- Agriculture and Food Processing: Sharing expertise and technologies for greater food security and sustainable farming. India has been a country with strong agriculture and there are huge scope for cooperation in this regard. Kazakhstan have huge fertile land and India has the necessary hard and software for win-win cooperation in this regard.
- Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals: Ensuring wider availability of affordable Indian medicines and fostering joint research in biotechnology. India’s achievements in healthcare and pharmaceutical has been phenomenal and is often referred as the pharmacy of the world. This is a very low hanging fruit which could easily fructify for a win-win cooperation.
Kazakh Invest has played a commendable role in making Kazakhstan one of the most attractive destinations for foreign investment in the region. The Government of India values these efforts and encourages Indian companies to view Kazakhstan not only as a market but also as a strategic hub for Eurasia.
Friends, India’s vision is one of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas – togetherness, inclusive growth, and trust. We see the same spirit in Kazakhstan’s development strategy. When these two visions align, the possibilities for partnership are limitless. In another words let me just say that our potential for win-win cooperation is just like a jumbo-jet part on the run way and waiting for the pilots to take off. Let us work together to produce this required pilots to take charge.
I am confident that the discussions at this forum will open new pathways for collaboration, bringing prosperity to our peoples and stability to our wider region. Let us move forward together – building bridges of trade, innovation, and friendship.
Khop Rahemeit Thank you.
