Speech by Ambassador at Diwali Celebration – Indian Community in Astana
(Astana – 09 November 2025)

Distinguished guests, dear friends from Kazakhstan, members of the Indian community, ladies and gentlemen, Good evening and Namaskar. Al salam Malik Kum, Salemetsiz be and Vanakum.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all of you to this Diwali celebration. Today, we are not just celebrating a festival as Diwali is not just a festival for India, is a celebration of universal human values that transcend borders and faiths. Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. That’s why we are celebrating the spirit of light, hope, and togetherness.

It reminds us that even in the darkest of moments, a small flame of courage and conviction can illuminate our path. Diwali teaches us to look inward, to remove negativity, and to share light and positivity with everyone around us.

I am delighted to see our Kazakh friends join us this evening. Your presence reflects the growing friendship between India and Kazakhstan—two ancient cultures connected by history, mutual respect, and common values. Just as Diwali celebrates light, our partnership celebrates trust, cooperation, and a bright future.

To the Indian community here in Astana: thank you for being the ambassadors of India’s culture and values. Through your professionalism, warmth, and active engagement with Kazakhstan, you contribute to strengthening the bonds between our two nations every single day.

Let this Diwali inspire us to strengthen these bonds even further—to build more cultural exchanges, deeper economic cooperation, and more people-to-people ties.

May the light of Diwali bring happiness to your homes, peace to your hearts, and prosperity to both our nations. On behalf of the Embassy of India in Kazakhstan, I wish you and your families a very Happy Diwali.

Shubha Deepavali!

Khop Rahmet! Thank you.
