Speech by Ambassador Y. K. Sailas at Indian Cultural Event
(Almaty, 28 January 2026)
Hon’ble Chief Guest Ambassador Zhanibek Abdirashov,
Diplomatic colleagues, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Namaste and good evening.
It is a great pleasure for me to warmly welcome all of you to this special event. I am deeply honoured by the presence of our distinguished Chief Guest, esteemed representatives of the Government of Kazakhstan, members of the diplomatic corps, cultural personalities, and dear friends from the media and the vibrant Indian and Kazakh communities. Your presence here today reflects the importance we all attach to culture as a powerful bond between nations and peoples.
This evening is particularly meaningful, as we have gathered to express our deep appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to an exceptional individual — Madam Akmaral Kainazarova, Founder of the Centre for Indian Classical Dances in Almaty.
It is a great honour for me to recognize Madam Kainazarova for her outstanding contribution to promoting Indian classical dance in Kazakhstan for more than two decades. Through her centre in Almaty, she has played a pioneering role in preserving and propagating the rich traditions of Indian classical dance, while at the same time introducing generations of Kazakh students and audiences to the depth, beauty, and philosophy of India’s ancient cultural heritage.
Her work has gone far beyond the performing arts. It has become a powerful bridge connecting the hearts of the people of India and Kazakhstan, bringing our societies closer and strengthening the cultural foundation of our bilateral relations. Through rhythm, movement, expression, and devotion, she has communicated values that transcend language — harmony, discipline, spirituality, and respect for tradition.
For over twenty years, Madam Kainazarova has been a tireless and passionate ambassador of Indian culture in Kazakhstan. Her dedication, perseverance, and love for the arts have created a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of dancers, students, and cultural enthusiasts. Many young Kazakh artists who have passed through her centre today carry within them a deep affection for India and its timeless traditions — a bond that will last a lifetime.
Indeed, words are not enough to adequately express our gratitude. Her contribution stands as a living tribute to the enduring power of culture in strengthening friendship, mutual respect, and mutual understanding between our two nations. At a time when the world needs dialogue, empathy, and shared values more than ever, her work reminds us that culture remains one of the strongest and most beautiful instruments of connection.
Madam Kainazarova, on behalf of the Government and people of India, and on my own behalf, I salute your remarkable work and thank you sincerely for your invaluable contribution to India–Kazakhstan cultural relations.
Ladies and Gentlemen, once again, I thank all our distinguished guests and dear friends for joining us this evening and making this occasion truly special. I wish you an enjoyable and enriching programme ahead.
Thank you.
Khop-Rahmet. Dhanyavaad.
