Speech by Ambassador Y. K. Sailas Thangal at the Premier screening of the Kazakh Movie Bisharashkis in India: In Search of Mom

(Almaty, 22 June 2026)

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Members of the Film Industry, Friends from Kazakhstan and India,

Salemetsiz be & Good evening.

It is a great pleasure and privilege to join you today for the inaugural screening of Bisharashkis in India: In Search of Mom. At the outset, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the producers, director, cast, crew, and everyone associated with this wonderful project.

This film is much more than an entertaining family comedy-adventure. It is a story of love, family, hope, forgiveness, and rediscovering one's roots. These are universal values that resonate deeply with people in both Kazakhstan and India.

I am particularly delighted that the film has been shot in India and showcases India's rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, colorful landscapes, and warm hospitality. Through the journey of Adilet and his family, audiences will experience not only an emotional story but also the beauty and diversity of India.

Cinema has a unique power. It transcends language, geography, and cultural differences. It allows people to understand each other better and builds bridges between nations. For decades, films have served as one of the strongest cultural links between India and Kazakhstan. Many generations in Kazakhstan have grown up watching Indian movies, listening to Indian songs, and appreciating Indian culture. This shared affection has created a special bond between our peoples.

Projects such as Bisharashkis in India have the potential to reinvigorate these longstanding cultural connections. When film makers from Kazakhstan choose India as a destination for storytelling, they create opportunities for greater people-to-people exchanges, tourism promotion, artistic collaboration, and mutual understanding. Such cooperation strengthens the friendship between our two countries in a very natural and meaningful way.

India and Kazakhstan share a relationship based on trust, friendship, and growing strategic partnership. Yet, the strongest foundation of any bilateral relationship is the connection between ordinary people. Films, music, literature, and cultural exchanges bring our societies closer together and help us appreciate our common values while celebrating our diversity.

I hope that this film will inspire many more collaborations between Indian and Kazakh film makers. India offers extraordinary locations, world-class film production capabilities, skilled professionals, and a welcoming environment for international productions. We look forward to seeing many more Kazakh stories being brought to life in India and many Indian stories finding audiences in Kazakhstan.

I also wish to commend the film makers for presenting India not merely as a backdrop, but as a place where human connections are strengthened, friendships are formed, and lives are transformed. This beautifully reflects the spirit of the relationship between our two nations.

As audiences across Kazakhstan enjoy this film from June 25 onwards, I am confident that they will laugh, reflect, and be moved by its message that family bonds, love, and compassion can overcome distance, time, and misunderstanding.

Let me once again congratulate everyone involved in bringing this remarkable film to the screen. May it achieve great success and become another milestone in the growing cultural partnership between India and Kazakhstan.

Thank you so Avery much.

Khop Rahmet.

Jai Hind.
