Speech by Ambassador Y. K. Sailas Thangal on the occasion of Graduating Indian Medical Students

(Almaty, 22 June 2026)

Dear Graduating Doctors,

It gives me immense pleasure to congratulate each one of you on reaching this important milestone in your life. Today marks not just the completion of your medical education, but also the beginning of a noble journey of service, responsibility, and lifelong learning.

As you step into the medical profession, remember that society places immense trust in doctors. From your very first day, learn to take responsibility for your decisions, your actions, and most importantly, for the lives entrusted to your care. Professional competence is important, but equally important are integrity, compassion, humility, and empathy.

Work hard to earn the trust and confidence of your patients and the wider community. Trust cannot be demanded; it is built through honesty, dedication, and consistent service. Treat every patient with dignity and respect, without discrimination of race, religion, nationality, social status, or economic background. Illness recognizes no boundaries, and neither should your compassion.

Yours is one of the few professions where you save lives while earning your livelihood. Never allow the pursuit of money to become the sole purpose of your career. Financial success may follow, but let service remain your primary calling. When you place the well-being of your patients above personal gain, you will find not only professional success but also inner satisfaction and respect from society.

Always remember that every life you save, every pain you relieve, and every family you comfort is a service to humanity and Almighty God will bless you richly. You are entrusted with caring for God’s creation, and there can be no greater privilege.

As you embark on this new chapter, I wish you wisdom in your decisions, strength in your challenges, compassion in your service, and excellence in your profession. May you become doctors who are not only skilled in medicine but also remembered for your humanity.

Congratulations once again, and may God bless you in your journey ahead.

Thank you.
