Speech by Ambassador on the occasion of Janmashtami, ISKCON
(Almaty, 4 September 2026)
Namaste, and my warm greetings to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to join you today in celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, one of the most beloved and revered figures of Indian civilisation.
Janmashtami is not merely a celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna. It is a celebration of dharma, devotion, wisdom and hope. Lord Krishna reminds us that even in times of difficulty and uncertainty, we must have the courage to follow the path of righteousness.
The timeless message of the Bhagavad Gita—to perform our duty sincerely, without being consumed by the desire for its fruits—has relevance far beyond any particular religion or country. It is a message for humanity.
It is particularly meaningful to celebrate Janmashtami here in Kazakhstan, a country where different faiths and traditions live together with mutual respect and harmony. This spirit of tolerance and respect is one of the beautiful bonds between India and Kazakhstan.
The growing interest in Yoga, Indian philosophy, Ayurveda, classical arts and Indian culture among the people of Kazakhstan is a wonderful expression of our deepening people-to-people ties.
I would also like to acknowledge the great contribution of the Hare Krishna community in Almaty in bringing Indian spiritual and cultural traditions closer to the people of Kazakhstan.
On this sacred occasion, let us take inspiration from Lord Krishna to cultivate peace in our hearts, harmony in our families, compassion towards others and courage to do what is right.
May the blessings of Lord Krishna bring peace, happiness and prosperity to all of you, to Kazakhstan and to India.
Janmashtami ki hardik shubhkamnayein!
Thank you.
